How Plastic Is Ruining Your Life

Our lives have been way easier since we have started to use plastic. It does create a hassle-free life. But what about the cost that it comes with? What about the effects it has on our health and the health of all the other living beings? Let’s see.

You would be having sports material clothing, those elastane, polyester ones. They’re made from plastic. When you go for a run or do any other physical activity like working out in the gym, etc whilst wearing them, you sweat and a lot of heat is released from your body, so the clothes get heated up too and the chemicals end up entering your body in the form of microplastics.

This reduces your testosterone (a significant male hormone), and your estrogen (a significant female hormone), causing hormonal problems like developing gynecomastia (males developing breasts), reducing the chance of you having children, etc. TRY TO WEAR CLOTHES THAT ARE 100% COTTON.

So, what’s the solution to this? Always check the material of your clothes when you’re about to buy them, the tags where it is shown how much % cotton or polyester it is made from. This might sound overwhelming but it’s good rather than accepting the fact that you will never be able to have children.

If you’re committed to sports like you’re a professional athlete or something and can’t stop wearing them, fine. There are other facets in which you can improve.

Let’s talk about plastic bottles. You must've heard about BPA-free plastic bottles, and how they seem to be organic and eco-friendly. That’s complete bullshit.

A plastic is a plastic, doesn’t matter how “refined” it is. When you drink from plastic bottles, the same mechanism happens just like we talked about in the case of wearing different clothing material, but just directly entering your body and entering your every cell.

It leaks harmful chemicals when you use it for a while which are detrimental to your health and will turn into a predicament for you if you don’t stop using them. Instead, switch to stainless steel bottles or glass bottles. Just by doing that single actionable step, you eliminate all the toxins entering your body.

Every year around 8 million tons of plastic gets collected into the ocean which subsequently gets distributed in the entire world. Decreasing the aquatic lives enormously.

These microplastics then enter the bodies of the fishes, crabs, turtles, and all the other aquatic animals which we eventually end up eating, getting more plastic in our bodies.

Once they are in the ocean, apparently, it’s going to be directly exposed to sunlight, wind, and other dust particles. They break down into microplastics which get mixed with water and end up killing millions of aquatic animals.

The same goes for dryland. There are microplastics in everything you can think of, but the whole situation isn’t in our control. Use enhanced quality water filters as they are one of the best investments you can make for your health.

Plastic has been found from the highest peak of Mount Everest to the lowest trough called the Mariana Trench.

It goes even further if you are willing to go extreme. Instead of using plastic bags, you might want to use cloth bags. Instead of using Tupperware containers for storing food items, etc, you might want to start using stainless steel or glass containers. Consider buying groceries that aren’t packed in plastic.

You’re just living in a fantasy world if you listen to all of this but proceed to neglect making changes in your own life.

As of my own. I’ve seen multiple benefits like feeling healthier as my testosterone increased, my looks changed (in a better way), getting rid of all my hormonal imbalances, and overall living a healthy life without any diseases. By just taking action on these things.

Actionable steps:

  • Consider wearing cotton and other natural materials instead of artificial ones like polyester, elastance, and spandex.

  • Stop using plastic bottles. Use steel and glass ones. I want you to do this today, ditch that plastic bottle of yours and get a steel or a glass one.

  • Just overall stop using plastic in everything. I’ve seen Indian people bring hot weak tea (chai) in plastic bags, that’s the worst possible thing you can do for yourself.

Just making these minute implementations in my own life has had a profound effect on me. Just think, if these easy-to-do actionable steps can decrease your problems then why not?

You need pressure.

Setting a deadline to force you to work, investing in your business to force you to make money. Booking the flight to force you to make a change.

Take the risk.

Because that’s not as risky as a comfortable, boring life.
