How To Find Your Unfair Advantage: The Key To Stand Out From The Crowd

An unfair advantage is something that you're either born with or acquired in the early stages of your life that can put you way ahead of people even when you're just starting out.

You have it even if you think you don't. It is just yet to be discovered.

Instead of just choosing a random business model and going all in, try discovering your unfair advantage, maybe, that will change the whole trajectory of your life.

It enables you to jump over through the trials and tribulations of constantly fighting your competition to stand out and instead get a headstart.

People like Leonardo DiCaprio had an unfair advantage of acting because of his childhood and by using it, he became one of the most famous actors in the entire world.

The five types of unfair advantages:

  1. Valuable Asset- Something you're born with, like a great property, jewelry, or your parents would've bought Bitcoin when you were younger.

  2. Knowledge and Education- You might've worked jobs in your childhood that gave you real-life experiences and lessons. You might have gone to school with other rich kids that gave you an understanding of how they think.

  3. Location and Timing- Many of you must've been born in first-world countries which can be your unfair advantage. You have an unfair advantage right now. It's the timing in which you're alive. This 20th century is going digital and there's no better time in building a high-valuable skill.

  4. Interpersonal Skills- Character traits like Charisma and Leadership qualities are the biggest unfair advantages you may have. If you had the chance to raise your younger siblings because your parents were always working, that could turn into a project management skill. Again, an unfair advantage.

  5. Prestige and Social Connections- Maybe you're born into a wealthy family with countless connections or your father was a world-champion boxer and has myriad connections.

It is not something that will pop out out of nowhere or will be handed to you when you turn 12.

Here are some questions that will help find yours:

  • What do people naturally come to you for? It might be to get your advice on some particular thing. NO, it's not your grandmother asking you to connect her phone to the wifi.

  • What do you enjoy doing that can monetized? If you enjoy and are passionate about doing something that is also in market demand, you're good to go.

  • Do some soul searching of your past and find out what have you done and achieved. Dig down into your past.

If I talk about myself, I've enjoyed writing a lot since I was a child and always thought that I wrote better than the people around me. I started journaling when I was just entering my teens and just putting my thoughts out on paper was a fantastic thing!

I am in the process of finding out about mine but currently, I think it's writing for me.
