What They Don't Tell You About Achieving Your Goals
Everyone has goals. Even if you arbitrarily ask a person with a job he hates but doesn’t do anything about it what he WANTS his future to look like, you guys will enter a deep conversation. But he doesn’t know or try to find out how to get there and that’s why he ends up nowhere.
The only difference between where you are and where you want to be is a skill difference.
Maybe you want to become a writer, so in this case, the only difference between your present self and your future self is you haven’t acquired the skills of writing with persuasion, story-telling, grabbing people’s attention, etc. People end up missing this part!
They set a goal and when they begin to learn how to get there, they get trapped in the tutorial hell, overwhelming themselves with excess information, and end up quitting it.
Learning happens by struggling not memorization-Dan Koe
Start directly by taking ACTION. When you encounter a problem, get the necessary education to solve it. Implement it and move on. When you reencounter a problem, repeat the steps.
When you learn something through this path, you actually discover things yourself and not just brainlessly follow the steps presented before you like breadcrumbs.
Be really honest here for a moment. Do you really think you’re going to learn something new like a life lesson or an experience just by following the steps someone has just told you to do?
When you first watch everything in one go on how to get from here to here, you’re just spending your time in redundancy. Take it this way, after watching the entire “how to”, you begin taking your first action step, you forget what it is that you had to do after your current step, so you again watch that video and again take action. The vicious cycle goes on.
Another thing I’ve learned the hard way is that you actually have to start small. I used to set up goals like I am going to spend four hours learning “x” skill today. When I sat to do the work, envisioning that I still had four hours left to do this overwhelmed me and never actually made any meaningful progress towards it.
Get that ego out and have enough humility to accept that I am not that great to be a work ethic just from day one. You gradually switch from 1 hour to 2 then 3 and so on.
One hour of meaningful work without waver is way better than 4 hours of just stressing out about how am I going to learn this.
People always fantasize about their dreams and regurgitate the same goals they're going to achieve to their friends, family members, coworkers, etc without even starting their day one.
They say I am going to be a millionaire, till when? What have you planned when you face a huge setback? What small daily implementations have you taken to get to it? Have you invested your time and money into building yourself for that business through which you’re going to be a millionaire? And the list of questions goes on. Stop fantasizing and start working. Focus on the daily wins which will have a compound effect.

So many people end up quitting on their goals or never starting them just because of what people are going to think. Try to apply this analogy: The ones you’re afraid of about what they are going to think will be dead within the next 100 years. Another great way I’ve learned is to just zoom out. When you zoom out into the universe, you can’t even see Earth. So imagine how insignificant their opinions are. Stop caring about other people’s opinions.
Building the right mindset is the key. YOU WILL lose sleep. YOU WILL feel like quitting on it every second of the day. YOU WILL be lost. YOU WILL not feel good about it. YOU WILL face mental health issues. It’s going to suck every bit of the time.
When that happens, remember this quote by Chris Williamson: “When you get to a point when you don’t even bother doing the thing, just remember, this is where most people stop and this is why they don't win”.
“You’re supposed to feel overwhelmed”, says Dan Koe. When you begin to learn new things, your weak mind gets uncomfortable and begs you to stop. DON’T STOP. Keep learning. Of course, take breaks but don’t quit it completely or schedule it for the next day. How will your mind grow if it doesn’t experience discomfort? You will never be able to expand your mind’s horizon and unlock a new phase in your mind if you keep running from discomfort.
Actionable steps:
Learn the skills that will get you toward your goal
Don’t get trapped in the tutorial hell.
Start small.
Fantasizing about your goals isn’t going to get you anywhere. DOING WILL.
Make daily choices about your goals.
Stop caring what other people think.
YOU WILL lose sleep. YOU WILL feel like quitting on it every second of the day. YOU WILL be lost. YOU WILL not feel good about it. YOU WILL face mental health issues. It’s going to suck every bit of the time.
You’re supposed to feel overwhelmed.

“There’s a guy right now who is doing everything it takes to achieve the life you wants while you are delaying the work and procrastinating. And he will take the life you want because he made the sacrifices which you weren’t willling to make”.
