Discipline And Consistency Is Not What You Think It Is
You might have heard many “tips and tricks” and “hacks” for being consistent and disciplined. Those might work in the initial stages, but what will you do when the repetition gets a lot harder and now none of these “hacks” work anymore?
This is where the raw and actual developed discipline and consistency comes into place. When you’ve mastered both of these traits, you know you’ll do the hard work regardless of what your feelings say.
I am not going to sugarcoat these traits, they are brutal to develop and even harder to attain but if you do so, then you’re all set for the rest of your life.
Just think for a moment, what does every meaningful task in your life that is considerably not easy require to achieve? Discipline and Consistency!
I’ve seen people start consuming motivation in the form of YouTube videos or music as soon as they are about to do something difficult in order to get in the mood. To be honest, that’s kind of cheating. That basically means your mind isn’t strong enough to do it without external source aka extrinsic motivation.
The only way you can develop these traits is by DOING. Doing it even when you don’t feel like it. Doing it when you’re 300 pounds when your life is tragic, doing it after a 8 hour work shift, doing it even when the doing is the last thing you want to do on this earth.
Trust me it sucks but when you’ve surmounted the initial stage, an inner feeling of ecstasy arouses realizing that your potential is only limited to your own beliefs.
The only reason the masses aren’t able to be what they want to be, millionaires, athletes, etc is because they can’t do the work and have not mastered these skills.
The best takeaway from this letter is to read Both the books of David Goggins entitled ‘Can’t Hurt Me’ and ‘Never Finished’.

He’s the guy who can solve many of your problems through his books and will make you achieve your goals ONLY IF YOUR ARE WILLING TO DO IT.
The “SUCK” part will not leave you your entire life. There will always be something which you don’t want to do. But when you’ve been through that kind of adversity in past, you get right back to your mental inventory and find the past memory of how you did it and how you overcame it.
I personally took a long time to develop this mindset as I just didn’t wanted to break that comfort bubble and wasted a lot of my potential in there. I got complacent thinking thinking what I am doing now is the best I can (don’t be dumb like me). I am proud of that little kid for overcoming all this!
I developed this David Goggins’ mindset by joining swimming classes. I finished reading the book just before a week of starting my classes and I knew how I am going to apply his principles when I am in that fight or flight situation in the middle of that pool. Those lessons I learned about myself and the inner mental state that started to develop in the middle of that pool changed my life. It enabled me to start thinking clearly even when it was my 36th round across the pool.
You have to do it relentlessly. The moment you stop doing it, you start becoming complacent again and that inner beast starts to fade away.

Actionable steps:
Make a goal that you think is almost impossible to achieve and start working on it. DON’T STOP. Whether it might be becoming a haafiz (A person who has memorized The Qur’an) , a young self-made millionaire before your 30s, starting that business, taking that course of learning a new skill, etc.
Start reading ‘Can’t Hurt Me’ & ‘Never Finished’
Stop listening to music when you’re working out or doing any other difficult task and fight that inner demon of yours. NOT RUNNING AWAY FROM IT BY MUSIC.
You are in danger of living a life so comfortable and soft that you’ll die without ever realizing your true potential.
